Who offers Tamil credit exam?

Fairfax County offers 2 high school credits for Tamil language. With Valluvan Tamil Academy's efforts, Loudoun county is piloting Tamil language credit exam from Spring 2017. If your county offers Tamil Credit exams, please notify us at info@valluvantamil.org 

Who is eligible? The exam is for students in grades 7 through 12
What are the benefits?

High School students can earn two credits for Tamil Language. Additional two credits will help to get advanced high school diploma. It's evidence of a student’s readiness for career and college, and for engagement as a global citizen. Students can also get Virginia Seal of Bi-Literacy in their High-school Diploma. See VA DoE notice

Role of Valluvan Tamil Academy Our volunteer teachers prepare the students to achieve high school credit through our academic activities.
Achievement More than 10 students passed out FCPS Tamil credit exam as of Dec 2016.
Credit Exam Dates, times, and testing sites Students must meet with their FCPS school counselors to register. Registration opens during September and closes around October. Exam will be conducted at FCPS selected school location.
Language proficiency expected Students must be able to read and comprehend exam instructions and writing prompts in the exam language. They must be able to write two well-developed essays in the exam language, each consisting of at least three paragraphs, using complete sentences in cohesive paragraphs on a variety of topics and personal experiences.
World Language requirements for the Advanced Studies Diploma In order to earn the Advanced Studies Diploma, students must earn three credits in one world language or two credits in each of two different world languages. The credit exam addresses the second option because students who pass earn two world language credits equivalent to Levels 1 and 2 of the exam language.
Exam Attempts A student may participate in the exam twice between grades 7 through 12. In other words, students who are not successful the first time may try once more.
