Virginia Public High School Credit Exam for Tamil Language

Which county offers currently     

 

Fairfax and Loudon County offers 2 high school credits for Tamil language. If your county offers Tamil Credit exams, please notify us info@valluvantamil.org

 

Who is eligible?

 

The exam is for students in grades 7 through 12

 

What are the benefits

 

High School students can earn two credits for Tamil Language. Additional two credits will help to get advanced high school diploma. It's evidence of a student’s readiness for career and college, and for engagement as a global citizen (Reference http://www.doe.virginia.gov/instruction/graduation/diploma_seals/seal_of_biliteracy/index.shtml )

How many students passed from Valluvan Tamil Academy

More than 19 students passed Tamil credit exam as of Dec 2017.

Credit Exam dates, times, and testing sites

Students must meet with their school counselors to register. Registration opens during September and closes around October. Exam will be conducted at counties selected school location.

What language proficiency is expected?

Students must be able to read and comprehend exam instructions and writing prompts in the exam language. They must be able to write two well-developed essays in the exam language, each consisting of at least three paragraphs, using complete sentences in cohesive paragraphs on a variety of topics and personal experiences.

What are the world language requirements for the Advanced Studies Diploma?

In order to earn the Advanced Studies Diploma, students must earn three credits in one world language or two credits in each of two different world languages. The credit exam addresses the second option because students who pass earn two world language credits equivalent to Levels 1 and 2 of the exam language.

How many times may a student participate in the exam?

A student may participate in the exam twice between grades 7 through 12. In other words, students who are not successful the first time may try once more.
