CREDIT THROUGH TESTING PROGRAM TO BE LAUNCHED THIS SPRING

In April, high school students who speak Tamil will have the opportunity to pilot the new Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Credit through Testing program.

High school students with the ability to comprehend and communicate in Tamil will be assessed for language proficiency using the Credit-By-Exam. Credit through Testing measures students’ heritage or native language proficiency in order to award two high school world language credits and  satisfy the intermediate-to-mid-language proficiency required to earn the Seal of Biliteracy.

The Virginia Seal of Biliteracy is an award given to graduating high school students – regardless of diploma type – that have attained proficiency in English and one or more languages. Testing dates for the Tamil pilot will be April 4th through 6th. Registration for the exam will be required.
